Thanks for the help in advance.

1. Is there a way to  point to a gap in your track plan and have AnyRail measure the point to point distance in scale?

2. When using Lionel FastTrack is there an acceptable fudge factor when to sections of track do not exactly line up when using AnyRail software?

Thanks,

Dennis32

Dennis:

1)  No, would be nice.  Currently have to use a "ruler", which is hard for small distances.

2) I use 3/32" quite often, which is fine for connecting a length of track of multiple sections.   Sometimes I go as small as 1/16 and 1/32 when I want to be extra perfect.   A gap of 1/8" or larger may work fine with FasTrack, particularly if the gap is distributed over multiple sections joints, but the gaps map be visible and may draw your attention.   I don't allow for any difference in curvature degrees, as this may show gaps between sections and cause trains to make a "jog" when going over a mis-aligned joint.

Ken,

I don't understand the 3/32" number! Is that some kind of setting I need to set in AnyRail?

Thanks,

Dennis

Exactly, under settings, tolerances.   This is the gap allowed to make a connection between sections.   The smaller is the more perfect, but may require more work to achieve - and often is not possible with the limitations of sectional track.
