Any Rail 6.25.5 Newbie Questions

Are you, indeed, using AnyRail 6.5 as your thread title suggests?  If so, your answers will have to come from someone still using Windows XP.

Dennis: 

1)  No, would be nice.  Currently have to use a "ruler", which is hard for small distances.

2) I use 3/32" quite often, which is fine for connecting a length of track of multiple sections.   Sometimes I go as small as 1/16 and 1/32 when I want to be extra perfect.   A gap of 1/8" or larger may work fine with FasTrack, particularly if the gap is distributed over multiple sections joints, but the gaps map be visible and may draw your attention.   I don't allow for any difference in curvature degrees, as this may show gaps between sections and cause trains to make a "jog" when going over a mis-aligned joint.

I don't understand the 3/32" number! Is that some kind of setting I need to set in AnyRail?

Exactly, under settings, tolerances.   This is the gap allowed to make a connection between sections.   The smaller is the more perfect, but may require more work to achieve - and often is not possible with the limitations of sectional track.

I went to Settings and there was no "3/32", so I made a manual entry. When I did this the system crashed. I tried three times. I then used "1/16" which is one of the default choices. That worked.  Just an FYI.
