Haven’t posted here in years as I don’t have the space to get my trains out anymore but I am looking for a nice tin plate set for under my Christmas tree this year but I can seem to find any used or new? Would really prefer standard gauge as I don’t own one so any idea would be much appreciated! Leaning toward a passenger set and while I enjoy smoke and sounds etc I want to keep it simple so if it requires a remote control or something unique to access the electronics I’d probably pass. Any help would be greatly appreciated

I have scanned a few but seems like very little if any tinplate available. Perhaps I am just rusty and I said I haven’t been into trains for a while
Try the old fashioned way.....call them!....one of them has to be able to steer you in the direction you’d like to go.....

Reliable longtime tinplate dealers include Western Depot, Sidetrack Hobbies, Grzyboski's and others.
Some really nice sets have been going recently on da 'Bay for reasonable dollars. How perfect do you insist on buying?
A Lionel number 8 or 10 passenger set would fit the bill at a reasonable cost. The 042 track diameter would not be too intrusive plus a 100 watt or higher transformer would get you going. :-)

Doesnt need to be perfect
Good luck!
As Art mentioned above, check with Sidetrack Hobbies. Call Al Rudman there and tell him what you're looking for. They still have quite a large inventory of tinplate.
I'll second Sidetrack!!!
