Since my father and I have mutual interests in the York and Spring Carlisle shows happening on the same weekend we are strongly considering taking the RV this year. Has anyone here gone RVing to York? Anything we should be aware of other than what's detailed by the TCA? Are there usually a shortage of RV spots at the show? Thanks in advance for any tips and experience.

I have stayed in an RV several times.
IMHO..... it's great!
Very nice to be able to go to the RV for a break during the show. Just be certain to bring lots of quarters for the showers!
Look in your York packet for details about registering your RV.

I think ours actually has a tiny little shower stall tucked in the bathroom so no worries there If I remember correctly the RV spots were pretty close to the Orange Hall so I'm really looking forward to the short walk to drop off the loot. Last October I got parked out in the sticks on both days, was a pain lugging everything out there and back throughout the course of the show.
Nick--RV parking is very close to the Orange Hall. You'll have a short walk indeed.

We had an onboard shower too, but didn't use it. The coin operated showers were pretty nice, and by limiting our use of onboard water, there was less to RV maintenance stuff to deal with. (The decision was not mine, it was made by the owner of the RV)
pretty sure rvs that camp outin the parking pay45-50 bucks .any one that stays overnight pays..........they git you coming and going.im really surprised car parking is free.jim
I have taken our coach to York twice, however I have not stayed on the fairgrounds. I stayed at the Ben Franklin RV Park which is located about 10-15 minutes west of York on Route 30. It's a small RV park with full hook-ups and 50 amp electric service.
For the April 2014 meet, I am planning to try the fairgrounds sites. The sites on the north side of the grounds beyond the race track are full hook-up sites with 30 amp electric, water and sewer. (No 50 amp service is available.) Other sites have electric and water, but no sewer. However, there is a dump station on the grounds west of the grandstands.
I think the sites just east of the Orange hall do not have hook-ups. I am certain that used to be the case, however I have noticed that they are adding more and more RV hookups and electric every year around the grounds. The sites in the parking lot just across the street from the Orange hall have electric only. No water or sewer there.
If you stay on the fairgrounds the fee is $40 for the entire meet - Wednesday through Saturday. I think there is also another $40 fee if you use the electric, but I'm not sure about that.
The Ben Franklin RV Park is $30 per night, including all the utilities and sewer.
Thanks for info Rich, and very nice rig! We have been having lots of fun in this 32 foot Winnebago Journey. You may notice the side door for the lift for my wheelchair-bound father:
Will be looking into all the registration details tonight.
Thanks Rich for the information. We have had a problem with a dog sitter and this looks like it will solve our problem. The bonus is that it if your use the fairgrounds, you can check on the dog periodically.
Stay near the brown hall. Worked out great, my wife could chill while I roamed. She likes to look around but not like I do. Really nice to be able to stay on the grounds.
We just go once a year, in the Fall.

You can get there at ~noon on Wednesday, better selection of spots.
All RV sites at York have water and electric (30 Amp). The full hook up sites at the northwest corner of the park, adjacent to the track, have full hook-ups. There are about twenty five full hook-up sites. Sites are available on a first come-first served basis. Attendees may select their area of choice. Best to arrive as early as possible, preferably on Wednesday or Thursday before opening at noon. Fee is $40.00 for entire Meet. Any questions, call or e-mail RV chairman. Contact numbers and e-mail address is on Eastern Division web site and in Meet Notice.
