Right now among other problems the lash-up wants to jump from 20 t0 120 mph on it's own. On the more screen under advanced features then system settings I see an engine speed lock. After I turned it on I ws expecting to see something that allowed me to set max engine speed but there's nothing there. I've set mak speed in each individual engine settings but the lash-up keeps taking off to 120 on its own. Am I missing something ?

(I saw this post earlier and hoped someone else would post. I don't wish for you to think I'm bashing here.)
max speed in each engine has no effect on the consist when in control.
What exact version number is your DCS app? Has it been updated since installed? Is this phone or device current?
I ask because the older DCS app did this to me. I believe it was fixed in a later version. I believe it would go to full if you pressed the up speed arrow more than twice. If you continue to have this issue, you can either press the screen's speed dial where you want the speed to be, or in a rush just press the direction button. That should toggle to zero. Of course, the consist will be in reverse.
I would suggest you connect the phone to your home router temporarily (internet) under the settings tab and then WIFI, select your house router, and then update the app in the phones play store settings.
go to the play store app on your device
press the three long dashes on the top left of screen
select "My apps and games"
see if there's an update listed for the MTH app (if so press the update button)
Open up the MTH app
go to the more tab
press the app settings tab
see what version it says at the bottom of the screen
Should be v3.2.1, build 53
I believe.
Thanks..Everything is current. This is the third time in as many days I've deleted and reloaded the app so I know it's current as is everything else. What I failed to mention is I can seperate the engines by a couple of inches and still running as a unit they all move at the same speed and same direction.

I don't as long as you don't think I'm the problem because my son just spent close to 2 hours here trying to get things to work correctly. We're fast learning parts of Barry's book word for word.

I am sorry to see you go thru all this trouble. It's funny to me because I remember going thru just about everything you are going thru!
Once you get all this figured out I think you will enjoy the app if you stick with it.
I remember the app acting up on me with the same speed issues. I thought that MTH had done something because it went away for me. Maybe it was that I learned what to do and what not to do?
I did learn not to tap the up speed arrow too many times, and just to touch the screen where I wanted the speed to be. I remember the app being touchy and I had to react more than once to keep from crashing trains.
There's an older post where MTH chimed in and was posting changes to the app like max speed on consists. I will look for it now.
