Hi all,

First post on the forum-- glad to be here! I recently purchased two new FasTrack switches, and I am using them on my Christmas layout this year. I attached a simple sketch of the wiring I have done thus far. I succeeded in electrically isolating the two blocks (sections marked "B" and "C"), but I am now getting an audible buzzing sound coming from my outer loop of track. I'm not entirely sure what the cause is. The diagram on the back of the Atlas connector #205 is not helpful, as it seems to be written for 2-rail track. All of my blocks and the outer loop are functioning properly, but I'm worried that this buzz may be causing harm to the switches or the transformer.

The folks at my local hobby shop suggested to run Red+Black from the transformer to the #205 connector, and from the first toggle to the outer loop of track; then Red+Black from the connector to their respective blocks. Since the middle rail on the blocks is isolated, WHY when using this method is all of my track powered? Stumped.

Thank you for your help in advance.

Aaron

Are the sections marked isolated the 1 3/8" sections?

Did you pull the wire on them to isolate the center rail?

Did you check the #0205 with a meter to make sure you are on the proper poles? Which are tied together? Are you trying to use the hot only passing through it?

No markings that I can see and no instructions on the Atlas site.

It may require that you feed hot and common to the side and then hot and common out.

Messed around with the connection where I heard the buzz. I was using the additional 5" straight that came with my uncoupling track... I suppose it was a bad joint. I turned it around, and the buzz was gone. Voila! Glad to hear it was not my mistake in wiring after all. Thanks for your suggestions! Happy holidays.
