I received my new Atlas Gunderson Multi-Max Auto Rack from Mr. Muffin's Trains today, (btw thanks Steve!), and have to say I'm really liking them, they're great looking cars!

I don't know how I managed not seeing the original announcement from Atlas for these until long after the reservation cutoff date, so out of the 3 I reserved I was only able to get this UP, one is better than none though. I'll be looking around for a couple more but it appears as if they are sold out everywhere I've checked already. Atlas, for us slackers, please offer another run of them soon.

NICE, congratulations.

I ended up ordering 8 racks total, 7 are in the paint shop getting graffiti'd and weathered. These are beautiful cars and are going to end up being sought after. Since Atlas has sold out of this run I'm hoping a second run with new road names is around the corner. Heres a pic of the KCS with Homer Simpson in progress kcsrack - 1

Do the end doors bi fold like the prototype, or do they just open like barn doors?    I know the HO car doors just open like barn doors, but wasn't too sure about the O versions?   They do look very nice!!     I would be curious to see just how difficult it is going to be, to change out the Atlas couplers for Kadee 746 couplers?   The Atlas folks at Trainfest, told me that a few screws needed to be taken out, to access the coupler pockets, question will be as to if a Kadee box will fit?   Will have to grab a few from Merlyn, if he has 'em yet.....

Picked mine from Caboose Stop Hobbies, at a local train show, today.

I had reserved all 4 Union Pacific, 1 Canadian Pacific & 1 BNSF.

I also had 1 of the Lionel Auto Carriers, close-by, of the 3 that I had converted to 2-rail, 7 years ago. I like both Atlas-O & Lionel auto racks.

As others have mentioned on these forums, the details on these newly tooled cars are very good. I am looking forward to the next newly tooled Atlas-O car, the Master, 53' Rebuilt Well Car. IMG_5266IMG_5267IMG_5268IMG_5271IMG_5274IMG_5275

These are just my opinion,

Loving the graffiti, you are doing on these cars! Is there another place where you share more images or videos of your work?

Thanks! I can't take the credit, the graffiti is done by a friend of mine. You can see more of the weathered cars on my YouTube channel "Bledsoe Trains"

Here are both sides of two racks that just got finished up:

I'll be doing a Kadee conversion as well coming up here soon as I don't like the way that the Atlas ones look, but Mike it sounds like you'll beat me to it so I'm excited to see what you discover during your effort.

Rather than hijack this thread on conversion to kadee's I moved the post to a separate thread for easier location in the future and keep this one more about the views of this awesome new offering from the Atlas Master line.

I got one of each road name (two NS) and love them. No complaints whatsoever. Would've been nice if the panels were see through but they never advertised that so I figured this is how it would be. The side profile of the 2 rail wheels looks a little odd to me. Not a big deal just kinda curious why they turned out that way. Once the wheels have been painted I'm sure it won't be noticeable. Gonna take some courage to weather them but it'll happen one day. 20230622_06413520230622_06415820230622_06420320230622_06420720230622_06421220230622_06422320230622_064253

Just picked up my two ordered from Merlyn at the DuPage monthly show.   Somehow he had found 2 more UPs in 2 rail.   I picked up the extra one, then after some thought, went back by his tables and grabbed the last one he had.    Really did not need it, but the temptation was too great.      Oh well, that is me, no willpower!   I am glad I got em',  only wish he had NS instead of the UPs.

Mike.....Yeah,  it's called don't look at the other stuff at his tables!      As much as I tried to control myself, I figured if I didn't snag it, it would bug the living he*l out of me on the drive home.     It could be the last of the  2 rail cars ever seen at a show for some time.     If I only had not looked, I'd have been fine.     I did not realize how big these dang things were until I got them home and down in my small basement....LOL!    I REALLY need to find that perfect house in Missouri with a bowling alley sized basement.
