Ok folks so this is my second post since joining the forum and I would like some input. I decided to use atlas track for my layout which will consist of a O45 outer oval and a O36 inner oval. The layout is roughly 9x4. I want to make an interlocking to join both inner and outer ovals. Is the O72 remote Left and Right the best way to go to make a smooth crossover? I am using the computer software railmodeller and it looks pretty good. Anyone have any light they can shed on this for me before I purchase all my track?

If you have room, use a pair of #5s in each direction (2 LHs together, and 2 RHs together. The divergent legs of numbered turnouts are straight and make a very easy transition. The "O-XX" switches, take the place of a piece of curved track, so putting 2 of them together makes the cross over an 'S' curve.

Yes, BUT inaddition to that Boilermaker1 is saying that you should use #5 switches rather than 072 switches. This will give you a straighter more trouble free crossover. Pat B.
I second Boilermaker, I have both O72 and #5 crossovers, and in hind sight I should have done more #5's
Yes, that is the right style. In total, you will need a pair of 6024 #5 lefthand turnouts and a pair of 6025 # 5 right hand turnouts. You could also use the 6021 and 6022 #7.5 turnouts, but these require more space. Pat B.
Here is a picture of AtlasO #5 switches and a 22.5 degree crossover. To complete the double crossover, you will need 2 5.5" straight sections and two packages (4/pack) of 1.25" straight sections. This provides 6" from center to center, so you will have to adjust the track at another point to bring it back to 4.5" center or modify the 22.5 crossover.
If you're just connecting two ovals together, just put one crossover on each long side of the oval. You dont need to do it in an 'X'.
