Anyone else notice that the new run of GP60's have low couplers? I recently finished a conversion of the NS 7140 Operation Lifesaver unit to Kadee's, which fixed the problem, but at a recent show the units would not stay coupled with other locomotives.

Yes; same with the Santa Fe version -- the factory coupler is too low.

The new 700 series Kadee's have three different shank heights: #742 Overset shank, #745 Centerset shank, #747 Underset shank.

What about the #740?

The Atlas factory draft gear box has a pretty thick "roof" (unlike a Kadee the "lid" is on the bottom) and thus causes a lot of the low coupler problem. Simply replacing the Atlas coupler and draft gearbox with a Kadee coupler and box goes a long way toward solving that problem. A center shank Kadee may end up just a bit low, but they've never caused me problems when installed on the GP60 series.
