I recently acquired a never run, new-in-the-box, Atlas-O MP15DC (1808-1 w/TMCC 2008 vintage).  Upon removing the engine from what appeared to be factory packaging, the front electrical roller assembly fell out on my workbench.  The roller assembly is attached to the truck with a screw into a plastic "nub" (Atlas-O support term) on a rectangular plastic plate attached to the bottom of the front truck.  The "nub" was sheared off level with the plastic plate.  Upon inspection of the rear roller assembly, I found that it too was sheared off and the plastic base plate was shattered into 8 pieces.  Atlas has not been able to provide a parts list or drawings for reference.  Also they have no spare parts in stock.  Can anyone point me to someone that could possibly make this repair or to someone that might have replacement parts that I could use for the repair myself?  ...Need help, Lost both my Nubs...

I have a pair of covers you can have if nobody else steps up.  I'm going to need some clarification first though to make sure I send you the correct stuff.

The two covers I have both came from mp15dc trucks, and they appear to be identical except for one important detail.  The "nub" on one appears to have a "bushing" which makes the O.D. of the nub larger than the one on the other cover.  I don't think it's a separate piece that slides over the original nub.  It seems to be integral to the cover.  At least, I couldn't get it to budge.

So I need to know if you can tell if you need one of each as well, or whether I need to look through my stash and try to find two of the same, of either style.  I can switch some covers around if need be, I'm 2-rail so the nubs aren't used for anything.

Speaking of switching covers, I'd like it if you can send me back the one remaining cover you have, even though the nub is sheared off.  I can still use it.

By the way, I'm not surprised that one of the covers has shattered.  It would seem that these covers are made of the same plastic as the early covers for the sw8/9/1200, and those are known to crack and or crumble as well.  I'm quite certain that the design of the mp15dc gearbox cover, and the later sw8/9/1200 covers, features a metal frame with plastic insulating insert in response to the earlier cover failures.

My email is in my profile.  Send me a note if you're interested, and I can get your address and get these covers sent out to you.

Cheers,
Jim
