Going to order ballast for my Atlas O Track. I'm going to order from Scenic express, the "natural stone" but can anyone recommend which one is best? Lightweight or Natural Stone? Is there much of a difference if any difference? They recommend #20 style for Atlas and I like the blended colors. Anyone have any tips?

I have Atlas track and I ballasted it with Ballast King granite ballast. They have many colors and blends and they are very reasonable with their prices. They are the ones with the Ballast King Ballaster which I got from them and it works very good.

Most of this ballast is Woodland Scenics Coarse Ballast Buff B1387
The road on the older part of the layout was done with Coarse Ballast Gray Blend B1395.
I thought this ballast to be too coarse for a road and later used Fine Ballast Light Gray B1374.
I would use different colors and size depending on where track is located.
the yards are not raised and go from a cinder mix to a darker ballast (track and ballast not changed as often) to the elevated main which has a grey mix typical for area modeled.

You will like Brennan's Better Ballast. That is what I use and you are right, Dennis Brennan is a great guy and very helpful.
