Started in on the first of perhaps six of these---for sure two doubles back to back and two singles back to back--- Man my eyes hurt and it was a pain to put in screws as everything is black! However, I will say, for the money that they are going to be swell on the layout.

Mr. Hah,
Please pass me some tips on weathering---yours is looking very grand.
Thank you,
Brad
Interesting thread. I enjoy the look of a string of freight cars, especially tankers passing through a bridge. My favorite bridge on my layout is a single track Pratt. As far as weathering, I do not have a compressor and paint sprayer so I try my hand with spray cans. Depending on the car or building I usually work very far away until I can see subtle signs. For what it’s worth, I preferred to keep my bridge pretty much black with only subtle weathering. I removed the track and the sides. Then I painted everything except the track and ties flat black to get rid of the plastic gloss and give it a little texture. Then I sprayed it with very light mists of gray primer, rust red primer and brown camouflage. To enhance the rivets I used some yellow and rust chalks. For the track, I used brown camou for the ties and used rust and brown markers on the sides of the rails. I used a little more chalk and weathering on the large I-beams. Unfortunately my photos do not show much but compared to the raw kit it looks better. Hope to see your work soon.
