I am very new to the hobby but am planning to build 0 gauge layout. Was planning on using FasTrack but now am thinking about Atlas. Can you operate Atlas switches with Legacy Cab 2 remote? Would you have to run a separate wire to each switch or would they operate using track power. I am thinking you can do this with FasTrack, right?

You would have to run several wires to them unless you use a 3rd party switch machine. I'd suggest something like the DZ 2500, but you still have to run a wire. Fastrack command switches are the only ones I know of that have truly no wiring solutions for command control if you don't need a manual switch control.

You can connect the atlas, DZ-1000, MTH, tortoise switch machine to an SC-2 or ?ACS? and control with the cab unit. It looks like for Atlas O or DZ-1000 you use an accessory transformer not track power. I think the videos say the SC-2 is good for Atlas O because it is a momentary signal type box.
I think the SC-2 or ACS is what John means by third 'party switch machine'

Actually, I was talking about the DZ2500 with the TMCC option, no SC-2 or ASC needed, just the serial command wire.

I know less than zero about the DZ2500. I use DZ1000's. What you are saying is that with proper wiring the Legacy Cab can communicate with the switch motor?

Wow - Thanks John
I took a look at the 2001 on the Z-Stuff website.

You're welcome. I've never used the DZ2500, but I've heard good things about them, and when I saw them, they seemed like a good idea. I personally would go for under the table switch machines if I were using Atlas, Gargraves, or Ross track.
