With the fantastic offering from Atlas in HO scale for the Trinity 73' Centerbeam Lumber Car, wouldn't it be awesome to see these cars delivered like only Atlas can deliver in the O Scale Masterline with real lumber loads, wrapped and unwrapped!!!   There are plenty of railroads and private owners with these cars, very common railroads today and no competitive product in the same class as an Atlas Masterline car.   Even after lowering the MTH car, the lack luster detail and older tooling really doesn't inspire anyone to consider O Scale or show what is possible in O Scale today!

This is probably an excellent project for a Masterline car considering they have done this in HO, it is a big car in view of the current pricing 110-115 list on latest Mline car I think this is important and can showcase a lot of detailing. Also the ACF 5701-5800 65' centerflow hopper already done in HO&N.JMO Interesting note the 89'4" intermodal flats did not get sufficient reservations to get made 2 years ago at 105-110 list now they are trying again at 115-120 list curious to see how this goes.

Yes Mike, this car is long overdue in Masterline, as is the PS 5344 boxcar and ACF Centreflow, sorry Centerflow.

After the very disappointing PS 4750 perhaps it is time to kill off the Trainman brand/concept and adopt 21st century standards on all future production.  See Lenz / Heljan / Brawa to see it can be achieved.

Opinion

Limey,

Couldn't agree with you more.  Considering the PS4750 is by far the staple of the covered hopper industry, some say the SD40-2 of covered hoppers, its a shame the TM product is so clunky, chunky, and just isn't up to the modern standard and even the Atlas quality we've all come to know and appreciate.

Yes, absolutely most of the staple boxcars are sorely absent from the O Scale offerings.

There simply aren't a lot of cars that you could get the ratchet detail and all the intricate detail as the centerbeam.   Certainly would be a showcase car in O Scale, on which Atlas needs to deliver.
