Atlas turnout powered w/ 12vdc 500ma wall cube using an on   [off]   on   momentary switch is actually working quite well but occasionally slow. Should i have a cap and resistor some where in the circuit to improve switching action. I have a box full of wall cubes as well if i should be making a change. FYI i am all 2 and 3 rail DCS.

For what you're doing you don't need the resistor.  The cap (with or without a resistor) provides a reservoir of energy so that the voltage holds its value a bit longer when drawing above the nameplate (0.5 Amp) current.   I suppose you could call this a "spike" but the available voltage will not be higher than what the cube puts out when idle.

Need clarification on capacitor and resistor placement. here is what i have working now w/out the cap and res in the circuit .Plus power from the 12vdc [actually reads 17vdc unloaded} 500ma cube to the center terminal of my atlas turnout. Neg wire from the cube to one side of a momentary [off] on button from there to the turnout outside terminal. My 2nd momentary same thing to the other outside terminal at atlas turnout. it works good except my older high speed turnout sometimes doesn't quite give me that "snap" sound i like to here and i like the idea of a limited power surge to my atlas turnout. My ?..should i place the res and cap across the plus and neg of the cube or in series someplace?
