Hi guys,

I was originally hoping to hook the atlas uncoupling track up to an accessory transformer on my DCS layout. I also want to control it through my AIU as I don't have a proper control panel to place my activation buttons. Unfortunately all of my switch slots are taken, so I did run it through the accessory port with success using the activate button on my app.

I do seem to have one concerning issue and that is I get a lot of sparks when I uncouple certain cars. It sparks a lot with my Lionel cars with thumb tack couplers but not using the Lionel cars with the other style coupler (circa 2008?). It also sparks a lot with my Menards boxcars, so much so that it actually tripped the 6 amp circuit breaker on my transformer. It sparks less with My MTH rail King car and not at all with my real king premier car, and my atlas car.

Any thought on how I can enjoy remote uncoupling without burning my layout and house down?

Thanks!

Ken S.

Honestly I have never seen my uncouplers spark. At first I was going to say to clean the metal couplers but then I started to think about a problem with the 'common ground'. The Atlas uncoupler uses track ground as its common so maybe check that the power supply you are using to power the positive side of the uncoupler has the same common ground as the track power supply.
