I just got back from my local K-Mart, and noticed what I think is a nice buy. In the Christmas village display they are offering a pack of 21 (snow covered) evergreen bottle-brush type trees for $12.95. The good thing is that they're assorted sizes, from about 3" to 9".

Believe it or not I have had success removing the snow with the wire wheel on my bench grinder. Just be gentle.

Home Depot used to have them for 1/2 that. Haven't been in this year yet but maybe worth a look.

Yep, I clean some of the snow off with water (dip them in the bucket), let them dry, then spray paint them.
Holly Shnikies!...I went to K Mart to check these trees out.I bought 5 packs!There awesome.Just going to get some dark green paint and shoot them with my mini HVLP.You hooked us up Mr.trains !!!!
I used a lot of these over the years. I would spray paint them liberally with a cheap, 99cent green spray paint and then shake them in a bag full of Woodland Scenics green turf like I was using Shake and Bake, take them out and bang off the excess and let them dry.
