Hi folks, I haven't been able to get in the Sunday Scenery Showcase with a photo on Sundays due to weekends being busy, but I did have some time to put together a short video of some of my standard rod type locomotives on my layout. I hope you will enjoy the video. These are some of my rod locomotives and rolling stock that I have not yet be able to detail and weather yet. Basically they have been in boxes but I wanted to get them out and have some fun. The locos in the video are outfitted with aftermarket Soundtraxx Tsunami sound decoders in the tenders, but as you will see I always add real sounds for a real sense of place. For those that are wondering, the sound is from a video I shot long ago of Western Maryland Scenic Railroad #734 at Helmstetters curve in the snow. I think I shot/recorded that around 1997 or so. Enjoy and have a great weekend. Joey

Thanks all, much appreciated.

Larry, I shot this in my garage and I have to be honest and say that I did it in black and white to hide the fact that the locos and 18 ft box cars are un-weathered or detailed. Making it B&W helps make it less obvious. I hope to get the modules back outside soon and shoot in natural light, but I am glad my portrait lamps helped make it enjoyable and convincing enough for this day. It may be a while before I can continue on to the next module or diorama, so I am trying to get some fun out of the existing sections.

Joey,

My hat is off to you. Thanks so much for sharing your work.  "Terrific" is right!

Your modeling and your photography both remind me of those of the great Troels Kirk. In both cases, the work has a unity and a sense of "place" that is rarely seen outside of an artist's canvas. It is truly "3-D painting".  Your style is very different from Troels, but every bit as great.

If I ever finish my current layout, you have inspired me to give this On30 stuff a try.
