I have the task of designing an automated display layout for my local club. We want to have a layout which consists of a loop of track with two hidden sidings. The idea is to have two trains running in opposite directions on what appears to be a single loop. The sidings are to be hidden inside a tunnel. Operation is train #1 runs around the loop and enters the tunnel going clockwise. Inside the tunnel it stops and the second train starts up going counterclockwise, appearing on the same track that train #1 just left. The switches (turnouts) are easy but how about the rest? I'm working with some relays trying to come up with something that works but without much luck. Anyone done this before? Ideas on how to do it?
