I have installed both Dallee Electronics and ERR sound systems in steam locomotives and first generation diesels, not issues with application or performance. Are there any other manufactures making sound systems for 3-Rail applications?. Specific sound systems per locomotive/diesel preferred but generic is okay, operation in conventional and TMCC.

When you talk TMCC command operation, you just slammed the door on everything but ERR sounds. If you want command control of the sounds, I don't know any other source but the ERR (Lionel) boards.

Yes. the MRC Ac Sounder for Diesels is the best bang for the buck!
For a little over $30.00 each, your sound board chooses diesel sounds from ALCO, EMD, and FM. You will need to purchase one remote at an additional $12.00[ which can program multiple AC sounder boards]. It is also recomened for O scale to replace the small speaker with a larger one to get a louder sound. I have a bunch of these and for the price it's great for trailing dummy units.
You can even turn on and off the Bell/Horn options and just have prime mover sounds.
while no crystal clear sounds as in the ERR sound units, for a Trailing unit, the lead power loco with sounds drowns out the trailing units sounds anyway so why spend the $$ for an ERR unit? [esp in a "B unit"]
