Are all the 6 wheel motor and wheels built on the same spacing of the axles from the 30's onward?  Will side rods from one model fit on many in regards to where the holes in the rod aligns with the screw holes in the wheels?  I know there may be variations in screw diameters and lengths depending on how complex the valve gear is, but just wondering about side rod fit as I work on a project with a 1668E.

Both 1668E and 226E motors build the foundations for which many successors have been built, there are nuances that could cause complications when trying to boil everything down to a generic standard.

Your 1668E should be using the following:

  • 1668E-9 Side Rod (Same part for both the Left and Right Side)
  • 1668E-45 Valve Gear (Same part for both the Left and Right Side)
  • 1668E-5,7,29,30 Wheels
  • 238E-23 Crosshead Screw
