Please correct me if I am wrong because I am trying to understand where and on what products to use these on.

YLB is strictly for lionel ,10510 comes with the battery clip 10500 is without the battery clip and needs to be soldered .  These replace the 9 volt battery. My first question is are all Lionel engines 9 volt or are some Lionel engines 3 volt or 5 volt similar to MTH?  Do the newer Lionel engines require the YLB or is it just the older systems?

BCR is for MTH and replaces the 9 volt battery.  BCR2 replaces the 3 volt battery. Is there a cap that replaces the 5 volt MTH system?

Do any of the  PS3 engines require a battery or BCR or is it just the PS2 engines.

I think I can answer a couple.

9 volt batteries go into the PS2 5 volt engines.  No 9 volt engines.  The BCR goes into PS2 5 volt engines.

All Lionel use a 9 volt battery (at least I’m pretty sure).

All PS3 engines have an internal capacitor to hold charge for a bit and do not need a battery.  Like a BCR, but built in.

The YLB is purpose built to replace the primary 9V battery in Lionel RailSounds products from the earliest versions to the current Legacy models.  The YLB without the battery clip doesn't get soldered, it has a connector that mates with the battery connector on the RailSounds-Lite boards.  These are the boards that are used in all newer Legacy as well as the ERR RailSounds Commander kits.  Lionel RailSounds never used anything but a primary 9V battery, that's what the YLB replaces.

The BCR products from J&W replace the rechargeable batteries in both 3V and 5V PS/2 locomotives, and also the 9V batteries in MTH PS/1 locomotives.
