I replaced 4 PS2 engines engines with with the BCR2 batteries. The first start up I waited 1 minute before running the engines. Do I need to do that every time I start up the engines?

For the first run of the day or if the engine hasn't been run within the past hour or so, I give it one minute before going into forward or reverse. If the engine has been run and then shut down for a few minutes during an operating session, it can be set in motion more quickly - say after about 15 seconds. What's the hurry? I blow the whistle, and listen to the bell, steam sounds or diesel startup sounds for a minute, until the engine is ready to go.

The engines will start right up and move, but typically the volume will be low until the BCR gets sufficiently charged. You can actually see that effect when you start up a PS/2 engine with a BCR, after 20-30 seconds the volume will suddenly increase to normal settings.

If you run often, no you don't. If you run them only once in a great while, you will have to wait the minute.
Melgar, you're correct..."What's the hurry?" Thank you everyone. I just want to be sure I'm doing things right. So far I am happy with the BCR2.
When I start my Engines, I do not attempt to move them until I can get the horn/whistle to respond.
Depending on the Engine, the start up time is different..some Diesels take longer. And they will not respond until they are fully started-and the horn seems to be the surest and easiest means to determine that point.
