I recently purchased a Berkshire Valley "dummy" ground throw. It has very nice targets with it,well the entire assebly is nice except for "flash" on the throw arm of the 'stand, but it would be a whole lot nicer if the switchstand were fully operational, but that's another subject.

What I'm looking at here is if a hole were drilled through the housing for the wire that's attached to the targets to fit into, could the wire then be dropped through the housing&attached to the throw bar on an Atlas,(or similar turnout),#5 switch? Then I'd connect a Caboose Industries ground throw on the outside of the turnout with the Berkshire assembly in between the Caboose ground throw&point rails for my working throw. The Berkshire Valley throw would be used only for working targets, with the Caboose throw doing the work.

Has anyone tried this,if so can you give me some advise?

I don't know why some company hasn't combined the 2 ideas into 1 ground throw. There's several possibilities that should work, for an O scale ground throw with working visual targets. What I have in my brain, could also have detachable throw arms to use different configurations of throw arms&the same with targets-make the target assemblies detachable so different style targets from different eras could be used on the ground throw.

I'm off my question here,I appologize, but unlike modern era "shelf couplers" which are from 1975 basically to today, switchstands have been in existence since railroads began-why hasn't someone made a working model with the properties mentioned,a long time ago?

Thanks to all in advance for your replies.
