I am an old-timer when it comes to 0 gauge trains and am looking for a wiring text that deals with traditional wiring techniques without a lot of reference to digital set-ups and problems. What is your recommendation? Thanks

If you can find them Greenberg's Wiring Your Lionel Layout vol 1-3 by Peter Riddle. Vol 1 is basics, vol2 intermediate with automatic train control, rewiring accessories and uncouple/unload for better functioning etc. Vol 3 goes into some electronics and is somewhat dated but also includes a section on catenary and operating pantographs.
I run conventional and have found them a great reference resource.
Scotie
Here is a recent one one I liked. Thought it was well written and easy to understand and easy to read. Some of these books are really a hard read, at least for me anyway.
Wiring Your Toy Train Layout by Peter Riddle
The Greenberg series posted by Scotie above sounds interesting as well and by same author. I might look into that one myself. Although I have command control only I enjoy all aspects of wiring for train operations. Conventional can be very interesting as well.
Hi - GG-1fan • I use a Craftsman Multi Meter, Check volts, ohms and electrical continuity. This is what works for my layout.

What are you trying to accomplish? Two separate loops of track running two trains; one loop running two trains? Really, the quality of the advice received starts with the quality of the question.

Actually, at this juncture I am not looking for specific advice regarding my vision of my layout--I really don't know what that is anyway. All I am looking for is the best overall wiring text to provide me with some ideas as well as ways to implement those ideas. Once I see what possibilities are out there, then I can be more specific in what I want to accomplish. What I do know, however, is that I want to confine my interest in conventional wiring possibilities rather than buying a text that will deal with digital systems.
