On your Bi-Level layouts what is the Height separation between levels, and why did you choose that height?

I allowed room for double stacks so 6 inches works for me. 2.3% grade
Are you asking about clearances for tracks crossing each other, or are you referring to multi-deck layouts?
Sorry Ace Clearance.
On a smaller layout where you want to minimize track grades between levels, 5" railhead to railhead vertical separation may be enough, but check it with your own trains and track and roadbed thickness. Larger scale-size trains may need more.
I think my tallest car is a Lionel 9602 hi-cube boxcar, which stands 3.75" high from the railhead.
More separation might look better depending on the overall scenic treatment of your layout and the effect that you want.
