This was at today’s TTOS meet. It belonged to the owners grandfather. He wants it restored and would also like to know who made it. It is STD Gauge. Any suggestions? The quality of the cast boiler would suggest it was not a home brew. A kit or small manufacturer I would guess. Nostalgia Train Works is probably going to do the restoration.

Wow Steve! You keep finding those really big STD gauge engines. The engine appears to be cast. It has a six wheel driver. Not too many of those were made, right? It appears to have a horizontal drive gear. Is that a flywheel in the rear? ARNO listed a whole bunch of candidates in this thread:

It looks like the Randall Hudson pictured about half way down the page on the shelf.

I don't have a clue, but I wouldn't do a thing beyond replacing missing parts and get it running. Looks too good for a restoration.

Impressive loco - I thought maybe a Randall, but the boiler is too long. Very unique and not on the list that George S posted (Arno's 6 and 8 wheel loco list)
I wonder if Carey Williams might know - he is a pretty good researcher. Or Hojack if he is still lurking!

It looks a bit like how live steam locomotives are made, especially the way the axles springing is made. There is some text cast on the inside of the wheel rim, but the only thing I could read was "Corporation New York", but the text is longer but unreadable (for me).

Fred
Since all I could read was Corporation New York it makes me wonder if it's Lionel. Was Lionel the only train maker in New York?
The drivers do have Lionel markings, but they have also been modified to have short scale like flanges.
