Hi all ran into another issue. I had posted a while ago when hooking up my KW transformer on its own to my track layout it melted the wires going to the track but the wires were also too small of a gauge and after I changed them to 16AWG its seemed fine. The only thing I noticed was the whistle function severely spead the train ahead. 2 nights ago I tried phasing the KW with my CW-80 and CW-40. So first I plugged the KW in and measured between the U post and black terminal on the CW's and got close to 60 VAC, which prompted me to turn the plug in the wall socket. This brought the voltage down to around 20VAC. And when I connected the U and black posts all together there were no sparks and seemed all good. I ran the train around for a while and the CW was only powering accessories. Turned everything off until last night I tried to just use the CW transformers by themselves (not with the KW). Upon powering both the 40W transformer fan and power light worked but no output even with nothing connected and smells a little. The CW-80 fan turns on but no power light and no output from either outputs nothing connected. I suppose the fuse inside could be gone but with the fan turning on seems unlikely. This all sucks a lot as now all 3 of my transformers could be fried!! I'd love to get a Z-4000 or more modern ZW but the $400+ price is a lot right now 😔😔. Any thought or ideas for troubleshooting if the fuses are still OK.
Cheers all and Happy belated St.Patrick's day to all!!
