I am wondering if there is a written history/development of the Standard Gauge Lionel Blue Comet set. Would like to educate myself regarding the the different variations, product numbers, what goes with what, etc. Thanks fir any help! Bobby

Greenbergs Standard Gauge book of a few years ago will help you. Google turns up a ton of info.

There are also a few guys out there with textbook knowledge of all the Blue Comet variations over the years (start with the 390E versions first - probably a better size for the Comet cars than the 400E that followed.)
