I have a car that needs to have rust cleaned off both inside and outside of the brake stand.  I want to take it off the car.  I think it's a question of what is least bad.  I could file down the bottom of the shaft so it will pull out through the floor and then mangle it after reassembly so it won't pull out.  Or I could unsolder the brake wheel from the shaft.  Is the wheel soldered on to the shaft ?
