I have a RK Hudson Steam Engine with an anemic headlight. I would like to try and improve it with an ultra bright led, but as near as i can measure it looks like the voltage is about 1.75v. What choices do I have , if any? It is a PS2; 30-1534.

The voltage measurement is actually not real, there is a PWM voltage there and effectively it's 6 volts.
I use a 3mm LED and a 220 ohm resistor for PS/2 lights, they will be MUCH brighter then the stock 6V bulbs.
Thank you, John. Could you tell me where to get a similar plug so I can leave the factory socket as is and just hook the led to the new plug?
You can just chop the old bulb off and use the same wires and connector. The reason I like to use the headlight output is that it's controlled just as the factory headlight is.
