I’m back in the shop after a week at the Grey Fox Bluegrass Festival and we’re getting to address customers’ requests and orders for new buildings. Our Manufacturing Warehouse elevation is currently undergoing conversions from the original 3-story version. First, we have developed  it at 5-stories and will be doing a small run, several of which are already spoken for. Now it is being altered into a five-unit brownstone. We’ll have it available in 3-, 4- and 5-story versions. Here’s the part I am excited about. The order that has initiated this is for a 10” deep building. With the way that we have developed to assemble these buildings, we can make them at just about any depth and with offset ends (side elevations) up to 1” every 12” in length. Moving forward, all buildings will be fully lit by floor and, in the case of brownstones, by vertical stack. All shadowboxes will be offered unlit with the option of us adding either adding random or full lighting.

So here’s the first glimpse at the brownstone. The 24” long building will have five total units, three that are all block, and two with block on the first floor and brick on the second and third floors. The model will have floors and interior walls to isolate each floor in each unit. Let’s talk lighting animation! The model will come complete with stairs. The sample is laser scored on a piece of Formica and is next to the original MWH-1 prototype. It looks as though the door panels need to be 3” wider. Updates to follow- give me a call in the shop tomorrow if you are interested.

Doug;

Might I make an observation... my family owned a brownstone on Pacific Street in downtown Brooklyn up to the early 90’s. The parlor floor (the floor which you reached by walking up the front stoop) had taller windows than any of the upper floors.

And don’t forget the entrance under the front stoop!!! Just kidding (even though practically everyone used that entrance).

Paul-

Thanks for the comments. I have seen sample photos of many brownstones elevation options. The jury is still out for a taller parlor floor. Believe it or not, part of the decision is the fact that I will have to consider box sizes to put the model in. The final decision will get made once the 4-story version is sized up today.

As for the basement entrance, this version will have the parlor floor only 1/2 a flight up. That makes the entrance to the basement below grade. I am not going to make the shadowbox or building below grade. There will be half windows with grills added at grade. The creative modeler can add a the curb wall, fence, gate and even a black hole if they so choose. I’m thinking that we would sell the streetscape items as a separate kit if there was enough interest.

Here's our first set of line drawings for CS-05 Brownstones 1 in our CityScape series of shadowboxes and buildings. These buildings are 24" long and include five brownstone units. The heights are shown on the right of the line drawings. We have an order for a 10" deep building of the 3-story building. A small run of the shadowbox version (1" deep) will be done concurrently, most likely no more than three of each.

Prices for the shadowboxes are:

CS-04-SB-3 Story $225.00

CS-04-SB-4 Story $300.00

CS-05-SB-5 Story $375.00

The shadowboxes are custom lit to your specification by floor and unit stack at the rate of $7.00 for the first light and $3.00 for each additonal light, and include your choice of clear or translucent glazing, and stairs with railings.

Prices for 6" buildings are:

CS-04-6" Deep-3 Story $450.00

CS-04-6" Deep-4 Story $540.00

CS-05-6" Deep-5 Story $630.00

Prices for 10" buildings are:

CS-04-10" Deep-3 Story $500.00

CS-04-10" Deep-4 Story $590.00

CS-05-10" Deep-5 Story $680.00

The buildings are fully lit by floor and unit stack , include side and rear elevations and windows, your choice of clear or translucent glazing, stairs with railings and rooftop items.

To place your order, please email or call the shop. This project is currently underway and the ready/delivery date is October York. A 50% deposit is required to secure your order.
