Sad news for those of you in the Sacramento area. I'm certainly going to miss Milo the parrot as well as the store. The last of their O gauge stock is being discounted 30 to 40%, including Atlas track.

Tiffany;
Yup. It is/was a big store with a large selection of scratch and kit supplies, O gauge trains, books and, in the rear of the store, the Train Doctor who could cure whatever ailed your O gauge trains...not to mention the referenced above Milo.

This is sad news. Even though I live in Arizona, my sister lives in Sacramento, and I always made a trip to Bruce's Trains when I went to visit.
Bruce
Very sad. I have not been there for a while. I always stopped by on my way to Oregon. What was the reason? There are not many O gauge shops left in California.

hello Allan E............
I was there in their store back in 2004 and they seems to be well stocked but what happen ? Is the other store "railroad hobbies" in Roseville closing too ? I will soon need to buy a MRC dual throttle 270 watt transformer.

I was there yesterday and picked up some Lionel FasTrack at a 75% discount. The store is 90% empty and the G, O, HO and N scale layouts are all gone. I am in Sacramento at least once a month and I always stopped by there to buy something. It very sad to see it in its present state and I am sure it will be closed in few days. Thanks to the Bruce's staff who were always helpful.

The Roseville store is still there. Tiffany, The Western depot in Yuba City is close to you, and has a very large selection. You can see them on line and shop if need be.
Scale Rail, there is a small shop on Kauai on the way to Poi Pu. Right hand side. Hobby shop that has a load of stuff crammed in it. I found a few very nice additions
my last trip.
RIK
Rik, thanks but we live on Maui, it's about $200 to fly over there. The airline prices went way up after Aloha Airlines went out of business. Don
Although it is sad for a shop to close there are many reasons but outside of this post i have never heard of them. Did he advertise in magazines, was his shop online, Did he do eBay? Did they do what has to be done in today's selling climate? Too many shops close because of non action of their owners. I hope that was not the case.
Not the case...Bruce lost the building.
Allan
Allan,
Is it possible that they will re-open again?
Cliff;
That I don't know but would be very surprised if he did.

WOW! Are Hawaiians going back to Ferrys and boats?
prrhorseshoecurve, They tried a high speed ferry system a few years ago. One large ferry was completed and a second almost finished. In my opinion it was a wonderful idea. You could drive your car right on and visit another island. Many Hawaiians liked it because they could visit family on sister islands. Sad to say environmentalist started blocking the harbors and not letting the ferries dock. The company soon went out of business so now you have to pay $200 to $300 to visit a island that's only a few minute flight. Don
