We are installing long retaining walls on our club layout with some portals also. These are made of plaster paris cast in latex molds and firstcoat color is ink/alchohol wash. Hot glue holds them in place.
well done. I did same at TMB model train club. On one wall we used a Grey wash and the other a Brown that was later weathered with chalk dust then sealed with dull coat. In all we have about 45 sections. As you did we created a latex mold and were able to make the sections for pennies a section.

Yes, they were. Plaster is cheaper and can be cut also. It also takes coloring better than the foam. Best of all, after the mold is recouped, the price is excellent.
