Thought I'd share a few photos updating the progress on removable shallow relief mountain backdrops. They are constructed out of 1/4 " luan base, some with graduated 1 inch polystyrene and rock castings made out of Hydrocal to produce some depth. I really prefer doing this work on the workbench rather than on the layout now that the track work and switch and signal wiring is completed. The first 3 photos show the area under construction presently, the last 2 show a backdrop my daugher and I finished a couple of weeks ago.
The entire layout is being built in irregular shaped modules that can be disassembled if I have to move again... Takes alot longer to build it this way, but at least I won't have to start over if I am forced to move.
