When I was younger, my dad built me a nice, 5 x 9 foot layout, (I think, looking at old home movies). It's no coincidence that my current layout is the same size, and has most of the same accessories, (rotating beacon, oil derrick, gantry crane (he had the older crane on a fixed steel base), operating water tower, signals, etc.
He had two houses, both made of wood, I'm sure, and both were ranch style house with plastic window and door pieces. The windows and door were thick, and had molded mullions, and door windows, and were clear plastic. Does these sound familiar to anyone? I'd love to get a similar pair. I do remember they were slightly different in design. I have to go back to my movies to see if I can identify better. They just may have been scratch or plan built with plastic trim.
This has puzzled me off and on for about 60 years!
