Ralph, I have the MTH Premier B+M 38-2. It is one of my favorites as it was local in the Boston area. The level of detail on these MTH engines is simply amazing. Enjoy your B+O GP 35 , it is a beauty.
NS6770Fan, I did check out the couplers. Pried on the rear one a little bit and got it to open. Shot both of them with a little dry lube and now they work like their supposed to. I discovered the the rear coupler cut arm was missing. I looked in the box for it but didn’t find it. I don’t see it in one picture I took the other day, which was right after I took it out of the box, so I think it’s missing.
Above are shots of my other recent acquisitions. The MTH George Bush funeral train baggage car, an MTH CNW waffle side box car, two MTH 8000 gal. Tank cars for either MOW or work trains, an MTH ATSF crane tender to go with the matching crane which will in a work train and an MTH ATSF operating dump car to go in the MOW train.

That's a nice belt, Gary! I'm wearing one with a different train pattern that my wife ordered from Schrader's years ago. It has held up very well!
Purchased a few things this month. Last week I bought this:
I have been wanting another Atlas O Horizon car for a long time, and I finally have this one on the way. It's gonna go great with my Horizon Dinette and my 2 Amfleet cars! Now all I need is another 2 more Amfleet cars, so I will be able to recreate how the San Diegan would have looked like if the route never got renamed and not gotten passenger car replacements.
The other purchase was yesterday, that being a 5 pack of passenger cars for my Reading T1.
If I really like these, I will be adding another 2 - 3 cars to my collection. So it will be a close enough recreation of the "Reading Rambles" excursion train.

I bought a Tonkin Cat MH3049 material handler, two Motorart New Holland dozers and two Menards’ BNSF flat cars for my MOW train. I thought the material handler would look better with its grapple than a backhoe with a scoop on a gondola with ties. I had no idea that it was so big!! I’ll have to mount it on a flat car.

Dan very nice find
I can't top that haul from the SPCA thrift store, but I was in a local antique shop yesterday, and walked out with a near-mint Marx Meteor NYC observation car (with box, no less). I aready have the Meteor set with 333 locomotive, but the observation car was missing a bit of paint on its roof, and I'd been looking for a replacement ever since.
This one is new. Runs just great. Lionel #6-84468 - USRA Light Mikado "New York Central" #5187. Actually should have a light freight consist I think, but that pax car set is new to me also.

Well I won the set for $13.50 + 27.08 in shipping. I waited till today to make sure the seller wasn't going to back out, but got fedex confirmation that they had it.

RT, if that set runs, you got yourself a fantastic bargain.
If it doesn't and I put TMCC in it I'm still ahead.
My MTH Reading Madison passenger cars finally came in today. They are very nice looking and much nicer than I was originally expecting. I'm not super fond of the looks of them just yet, but I think I can grow to like them a lot. The box they came in is huge, it's the biggest train box I have ever seen. The people in the cars is a nice feature to have, and the LEDs are very nice. They aren't entirely flicker free, but that might be from my track not being 100% perfect and clean.
Yes I am aware that these are not entirely correct to what the real "Reading Rambles" excursion trains had. The real cars had 4 wheels trucks, not 6 wheel trucks. This is the closest cars I could find, nobody else makes anything close to the real cars. But these will do just fine.

A lot of pick-ups from eBay or hobby shops over the last week and a half:
From eBay- postwar UP 202- Shell is beat up, lacks a rear coupler, but runs quite well!
My dad had a Santa Fe 215 shell that I was able to put on the above UP- looks nice IMO!
RMT Great Northern Buddy with extra lights and speed control(switch to go to parallel and series on the bottom). On the box, it says that this model should be in “Parallel” when paired with any older models of RMT buddy’s. However, I’ve read elsewhere that that they should be in series- any help/feedback would be greatly appreciated!
Pair of postwar Santa Fe 218 FAs. The powered unit is missing the mAgnetraction/gear box. Thinking i might take the one from the UP 202 and fit it on this guy. Still, runs like a champ!
Picked this ‘dummy’ AEM-7 up at Joe’s Train Station in Doylestown, PA after I went to Nick Smith’s and found out they hadn’t updated their summer hours. After researching the AEM-7 948 non-powered on MTH’s website, I realized someone changed the roof and pantographs(roof from black to gray, pantos from black to prototypical orange) very happy with this get! Just wish it had lights with it.
Picked these up at Nick Smith’s(one of the reasons I went). Corgi 1/50 scale British Paratrooppers. Great height and fit well in my “international zone”
Picked up this Marx B&O F-3 on eBay. Seller said it ‘wasn’t running’ some cleaning, lubrication, and CRC on the e-unit as it going just fine!

Homemade Spaghetti, probably bad cheese or something. It had me concerned because I had to vomit after a bit, and I started regurgitating blood. Afterwards there was discomfort in my lower abdomen. We didn't take risks because a doctor said it was better to get it checked before it got worse, IF it got worse.
Oddly enough I do have one scattered memory where a 5-ish year old me once wondered what a Bachmann N-scale Santa Fe Stock car tasted like. Needless to say plastic tastes terrible. Never put a train in my mouth again.
As a matter of fact, yes. When these were introduced back in 2016, I had to try and get the Boston & Maine 6 pack. I got lucky to get 3 at my local train store, but it became hard to get the rest. I did manage to pick up one at my first York in October of 2017, but just couldn't find the remaining 2. Believe it or not, the first place I looked after buying the first 3 just happen to be the place I was looking at engines online(usually to see what's out there) and their they were. Placed my order Sunday night and they arrived this afternoon.

Well I wasn't planning on buying anymore locomotives but this was too good of a deal to pass up. It's a MTH 20-3079-1 Santa Fe 3460 class Hudson, number 3460, the "Blue Goose". It's in like new condition with zero run time (rollers and wheels show no wear) but was part of MTH service, i.e. robbed of parts for warranty repairs. As such it has no boards, smoke unit, or any wiring harness. It does have the motor, drivetrain, and all lights. Currently it has a bridge rectifier and just runs forward. My plan is to install a steam PS3 upgrade kit in the winter, along with a spare PS2 smoke unit. I can't reveal where I got it as I promised to keep it on the down low. It was a screaming deal, as even with the cost of the PS3 upgrade kit it will still cost less than half of what a factory PS3 "Blue Goose" would cost.

Hi Vincent,
I only model in 2-Rail and that's why I'm converting them over from 3-Rail. Even though I've been collecting and researching O Scale for a while, I'm a beginner as well with a modular layout to go around the room. Construction should begin this fall! Feel free to ask any questions that you might have!

Scale body, but not scale couplers ("big lobster claws") or prototypical mounting of couplers (most 3r is "Talgo" type, on the truck vs body) ;wheels have a different profile with rounded or fast angled treads and transition to flange differs; and hugely oversided flanges ("pizza cutters") are the norm on 3r for better performance on tubular track lacking the edges of T head rails.
Scale wheels end up thinner too. Look close at your HO wheels and you can likely note similar differences. Some use more toyish set ups than others to improve performance on less than perfect trackwork.
2r folks of all scales tend to attack their issues resulting from more prototypical scale with better track, better gauging, and more prototypical weighting (heavier)
Thanks to Nassau Trains and Grzyboski’s Trains for my new project. I planned to just buy the chassis for parts, but it was hard to not put this SD70 together with the variety of shells that were up for sale. I have a couple of the Heritage units already, and the Southern was on my want list. The next best thing to buying one, building one! I will have to order the trucks and a couple small parts from Lionel, but this will look good in a lash up with my other two Heritage units!

I have the shell mounted on the chassis now and all features work as they should. I need to clean the dust off of it and try to find some green paint to touch it up. I am excited to see it completed and pulling some rolling stock!
Thank you, Darin and Adriatic.
Researching on the web, I was surprised to learn how popular 2-rail O gauge is. I would have considered it to be meaningless with unpowered rolling stock, but the 2-railers tend to demand more accuracy.

You're welcome Vincent. Sorry, I should have been more detailed in my response, but Adriatic explained it very well! Here's what I should have said:
I came into O scale from HO which I still model. I never gave O scale much consideration back in my early HO days as I thought all O Scale was 3 Rail and not to scale. In fact I would often catch myself saying that I wished they made O scale more like HO. After moving to Colorado in the late 80's, I went to the Holy Grail of Model Railroading Caboose Hobbies. It was there that my old beliefs with O scale were shattered as I happen to see a 2-rail locomotive and rolling stock on display (Que the heavenly light shinning from above with angels singing). Well, that put me into a whirlwind of research into what I had been missing all these years. It was not too long after that I picked up a Red Caboose GP9 and thus beginning my adventures into 2-Rail.
I would have to agree that 2-Railers are really HO modelers only in a bigger scale that do want their trains to be more prototypical, scale and detailed as your research indicated.
I'll get some better pictures of the hoppers I just picked up along with some of my other O scale collection. Until construction begins on the modular layout, I'm going to start at least one modular section or a diorama to get my feet wet, that way I have something that can photograph my equipment on.

”Western Maryland Railroad EMD BL-2 Locomotive No. 81 in 1971.
The Western Maryland Railway (reporting mark WM) was an 835 mile Class I railroad operating in Maryland, West Virginia, and Pennsylvania from 1852 until 1983. It was primarily a coal hauling and freight railroad, with a small passenger train operation. The WM became part of the Chessie System in 1973, although it continued independent operations until May 1975 after which time many of its lines were abandoned in favor of parallel Baltimore and Ohio Railroad lines. In 1983 it was fully merged into the Baltimore & Ohio Railroad, which later was also merged into the Chessie System with the former Chesapeake and Ohio Railroad, which is now CSX Transportation. The WM's headquarters were in Baltimore, Maryland”.

Thank you Paul and Bob!! I have two BL-2s. I don’t know for sure why the Western Maryland Rwy became my favorite since I grew up on the B&O. I recall a parade of freights pulled by solid blue F units. The Fireball is an attractive insignia on the WM engines.

I’ve seen the engine, but never ridden one of their trains (sort of like living in NYC for 40 years and never going to the top of the Empire State Building or the Statue of Liberty!!!).
I have never been a set collector but I happened upon this Super O set box in really nice shape with most of the set contents at what I considered a bargain. This is the 2291W 1957 Rio Grande F-3 freight Super O set with 2379 AB F-3, orange barrel car, cop and hobo car, generator car, M&STL boxcar and Rio Grande caboose. All of the ancillary bits were loose in the box (buttons, control rails, dump bin, barrel ramp extender, paper work, etc) making this a very complete set minus component boxes. The trains were in good condition but they were not really what I wanted out of this set. I had always wanted to have a boxed set for display in my train room and this set box was so nice I thought why not? I sourced replacement boxes for the components from East Coast Train parts and now I have the boxed set for display I wanted.

The only improvement I'd like to do would be to put inserts into the "porthole" window openings; just to fill in that gap caused by the thickness of the body casting. I bet if I look around, someone has offered these in the past...(?)

Late yesterday, Mr. Brown dropped off my latest haul of good deals from @MrMuffin'sTrains
First up are two Atlas O BAR 50’ PS-1 Plug Door Boxcars. They are rather heavy (a good thing) and have great graphics...
BUT... the spacing between the cars seems unusually large - does anyone have experience with these cars... is the spacing normal???
Next up is a MTH Long Island Gondola with a Bridge Girder. Based on a recent discussion on another thread, I think the car is done in the Tichy paint scheme!!! One of the things that drew me to this car was the girder marked for the ‘64 - ‘65 New York Worlds Fair which I fondly remember visiting on many occasions (the girder even sports the Unisphere, the symbol of the Fair which still stands in Flushing Meadows Park ). The girder is metal which gives the car a good heft.

I bought this magnificent Ferromex SD70ACe today, and it runs smoothly. I am concerned about its lack of high speed, but even when crawling at low speed, it is a smooth operator. Ferromex owns 116 of this specific version of the SD70AC, which was replaced in 2015 by a more emission-free version.
I wonder: does anyone else on this forum own any Ferromex locos or rolling stock?

Lightning struck twice today! I had bought the battery-powered HO steamer that I just posted about. But I also bought this loco today. The problem is no matter what I did, I could not get the top off, so I finally made a small break in the back. I installed a single AA battery, and it runs great.
Unfortunately, it doesn't fit on any tracks that I have, but for $1, it sure is a nice-looking piece of junk.

Vincent, I bought it because occasionally I have seen a Ferromex ES44AC in a BNSF consist as run through power in my neck of the woods. Note the greens are different on both engines. When 4672 was built it was in the same green as your 4061. I think 4672 was repainted circa 2017 in the green of my 4672. When I ordered it I assumed it would be in the original green. I was a little disappointed and surprised when I got it.

Vincent I have an MTH Ferromex ES44AC that I bought a couple of years ago. Had the Lionel version but sold it. I also have an MTH TTX/TFM auto rack, which is now TTX KCSM.

I bought one when first out, before the Z4000 was available. Thought it would be the "cat's meow" for many reasons. But quickly found out that my many MTH engines really did not like it. For one thing with this vs. my KW the MTH engine sound system would all hum. Did not like that!

Then it's a good thing I don't have any MTH engines...plus, I don't really care for "sound systems" anyway...so I guess I'm good. I think my locos will be happy enough.
EDIT: I've got company through the middle of next week, so I won't be able to give this thing a complete test for a while, but just a quick check shows my PW Flyer(s) and '90s era Lionel(s) seem to like it...

Since l am a fan of side door, combine, and drover cabeese, and never pass up a cheap Bob Peare "Traincraft" side door kit, l got these two needing restoration off the net. Also included a covered hopper that was a plastic kit with a metal frame, but l can find no brand. It is missing a few simple side braces, but l can't use in 1940, so $5.00 and shipping owns the hopper. The cabeese will get working couplers, and green and yellow repaint and custom decals. Too bad Peare didn't model the FEC sidedoors, and l'd have my boomered Great Western cabooses.

Had this for a few months now. Couldn’t get a good picture on my temporary layout.
It’s the new MTH version of the RF&P E8 commuter train. Saw them as a kid when dropping my Dad off at Broad Street Station in Richmond. He would take it quarterly to D.C. for business meetings.
It runs and looks great. Very satisfied with my first Premier engine purchase.

I just ordered the Peabody LC+ diesel 6-84698 and matching 6 pack of cars 6-84770. I really like the paint job. A nice thing about being a newbie is that I do not have to wait for new products to come out because it's all new to me.
Purchased these last Friday during the TrainWorld free shipping deal. Now I got 7 cars to pull with my Reading T1. This 2 pack of cars is actually a bit nicer than the 5 pack I purchased last month. The diner car has a lot of attention to detail in the interior, all the seated figures are holding plates with food on them, there are standing figures serving food, and even a chief in the kitchen part of the car. Now I really want to purchase the matching RPO car, maybe even the last 2 car pack.
I can't wait to run these at my local club some time next month, since running 7 cars on my home test track is not really ideal.

Went to my LHS this weekend to look in the bargain bin for my next post-war restoration project and came across this little Lionel HO set that was NIB and had a Lechmere Sales (circa 1960's large Boston department store) sticker for $13.88. Got it for a good price and took it home and cleaned and lubed everything up and it runs great - it's just a small collector's item, but my 2 year old granddaughter loves it and can operate the transformer lever.
Pictures are not of the one I bought - mine is actually in better condition, especially the box.

Scored this 4 car set of Lionel Lackawanna MU commuter cars from 1991/2. For a little over $200, I consider that a steal.
As a boy who grew up in Lackawanna territory and along the NJ Transit electric lines (Gladstone to Summit), these were a must have.
The electronic reverse unit is a little finicky, but otherwise these are quiet, smooth runners. The powered unit has twin Mabuchi can motors. Seems like good candidates for command control upgrades.

Thomas, much enjoyed your Lackawanna recent acquisition and seeing your video of it. Lived in NJ, (Berkeley Heights) for many years and took what we nicknamed the Erie Lacsadasical for its sometime spotty service to NYC. Friday nights had a well earned bar car many of us attended as well on the return trip.

Recently acquired a new Lionel reefer off of eBay alongside three tins (One WP, two 3" Post Cereal 1950's). I just ordered a set of more tins today but will likely arrive later in the week. The reefer is the Lionel NYRX Reefer from the Jersey Central Yard Boss set, and the small tins are all vintage Post Cereal 3" tins from the 1950's.
These are tins above are the ones I just ordered but have not shipped yet. I will still get a dupe Southern, but that will be handed off to a close family member.

I have been looking for these for a long time. Non sports cars but common and recognizable vehicles of the time I am trying to show.

SilverLake, that yellow and brown Country Squire station wagon looks like the car my parents had in 1970. I passed my Pennsylvania driver's license test with it on the first try.
Yes, I remember those Country Squires, and that model looks just the part. I passed my Pennsylvania test in 1972 in Dad's '69 Ford Galaxy. It was intimidating having a State Trooper in the passenger seat grading the test.

Picked up a few things at Nick Smith’s, Henning’s, a local Flea market and the Hamburg train meet this past Sunday. Am trying to get almost all my loops to command and DCS- have a 4 stage plan lol. Unfortunately, Hamburg, where I was planning to get a TMCC diesel, didn’t have what I was looking for. I have a lead though. Anyway enjoy:
Nick Smith’s:
Conrail passenger car, spotlight car, and some figures and other accessories(not shown)
Henning’s:
CSX tanker- was really happy they still had this- but Chessie System fan and have come around to CSX.
Another Conrail. PS-2 covered hopper in in the old Weaver box. CSX And Conrail are two roadnames which Id like a TMCC diesel for.
Found a “newer” 135 watt PH-1. My Powermaster is the original. I prefer the brick over the adapter cable & transformer set-up but can using that again as I expand.
Flea Market & Hamburg:
From Hamburg, love the railking structures.
just a bag of plasticville figures
Lionelville Esso gas station figures in the light blue, 4 diecast figures on the right.
these are really neat, were included in that big bag I bought. Anyone know who made them?
Picked up the 250 Z(been on my radar) at Hamburg for a good deal with warranty and the Flyer 22020 at a Flea Market(can’t ever have too much power). This adapter cable actually came from an LHS as i wanted an extra. My dad an I visited the Reading train museum after Hamburg which was really cool.
The little red shack by the crossing gate ended up making a PERFECT guard shack. Will repaint it to more appropriate colors.
Weaver stock car from the Danville PA Iron Heritage Festival. I just liked the car, didn’t realize the story behind it.
Finally, figures in action:
Hunter protecting his property.
Refugees being documented to enter the democratic part of my layout from the dictatorship on the other side.
hoping that I’ll be able to post a TMCC diesel later today!

Oh God no! I in no way shape or form am saying that. I see where the confusion lies because theres a U.S. flag on the “dictator-side”. There’s an international zone within that dictatorship, has similar status that combines an embassy, the U.N. Building, and an enclave. See the white Jeep? It’s a United Nations Jeep.
The dictatorship side(I need to give it a name) is made up of Nazi soldiers(made by Corgi), civil war soldiers(from hobby lobby, they make a good militia and even out the sides) and finally a unit of what Typical communist looked like in their dress uniforms(unsure of nationality but they have blue dress uniforms).
main point- The dictator side isn’t any particular country and is a combo of the worst of the worst. The other side isn’t perfect but is helping, as an international, people who are in need.
main point- the Flag of the U.S. is NOT associated with the bad guys

@Trussman I thiuhht it was you who also said they’d be at Hamburg! Anyway, nice find on the 2559! If this was a couple months ago, I would’ve been buying like crazy for parts, rolling stock, etc... considering how unbelievably low the prices were. But like, I said, I wanted a TMCC diesel in particular few of which were there.
also, looked into the Iron Hertiage Festival a bit an got the history. It’s really cool, but not in expected in the state of PA, that a company like Weaver, with its PA origins, would commemorate that. My stock car has “256/300” etched in the bottom. Not that I care, it’s a war car I bought for $10 and is interesting to compare to my Atlas O-Scale stock car
A local store got a shipment of cheap plastic battery-powered HO trains. Each set includes a steam locomotive coal car, and two other cars, along with tracks. Price is $6.
I found one with two gondolas. A regular HO loco can actually push them around the track. So now they're hauling material for my (still unbuilt) Coca Cola bottle cap manufacturing and repair facility.

Went to Gryzboski’s today. What a great store and great service. Had one thing in mind and got it so Mission successful. Got some other things as well:
Got these Lionelville structures. The UPS store is used and modified(that lamp isn’t supposed to be there) but I think it looks fine. The ranch house I bought new
Next, the accessories. Bought a starter set loop of FasTrack- which I don’t use(I use O-27 tubular, O-31 tubular, and Realtrax 31 inch radius) that said, the start Loop is perfect if I integrate FasTrack at sometime OR require a larger radius curve. Bottom left is a Porsche Cayenne 1/43 scale, some signs(all diecast), a tubular crossing, bag of figures, and a K-line SWAT Team to add to my current police and black-ops force.
Finally...my first TMCC engine!! Lionel Amtrak Dash-9 Cab numbed 510.
Love this guy- truth is, however, I’m actually afraid to run it. I’ve read and read and read articles, manuals, magazines, forum posts, etc... but I’ve never run a TMCC engine before. Regardless- I’m pretty confident I’ll figure it out.

Maybe it isn't really supposed to be in this thread, but a very nice Craftsman scrolling saber saw I got at a resale shop in Zeeland Mi. for $4 that's like new is pretty cool. I have used it and it truly is much superior to the modern plastic one I have that's supposedly a Craftsman tool. This thing has trigger controlled speed and its weight makes cutting so much easier and smoother. I have a thing for well made tools that are a pleasure to work with.
Should have explained more about this at first. I am putting Williams E7 motors & trucks and later, Tru-Blast Plus into a Railking SD9 dummy. This requires making a new chassis. I picked up a sheet of 12 ga. mild steel at Menards and had put off cutting out the chassis because the saber saw I had was an el cheapo Craftsman from this century. When the wife & I went resale shop shopping last month, lo and behold there was this jewel of a saw just waiting for me to take it home. It really did a nice job cutting out the piece for my chassis and some of the detail work on the holes. I knew I had squirreled away the old style blades for a reason.

Can't have too many SD40(-2)'s on a pike. Those look striking.
Intermodal madness! I'd been stuck on a "1970's thing" for most of this year (i.e. lotsa Penn Central) but now I've moved up to the 1980's. The 1980's around here (Mid-Atlantic) meant that we were down to 3 railroads - Amtrak, Chessie System and Conrail. It was also an era of explosive growth in intermodal shipping. Although invented in the late 1970's the Husky Stack, Gundersons and such didn't really take off until the mid 1980's.
Sizing up my collection I decided that my intermodal game needed an equipment upgrade.
I picked up some additional 40' containers, an MTH Conrail 60' flat with 20' containers and this TTX spine car set with SeaLand containers. I also used the additional containers to populate the freight cars I already had with some fresh stock.

I finally got a chance to meet up with my friend to pick these 2 Atlas O 33000 gallon tank cars, that I already paid for about a week ago. I saw him operate these before at my local club and I really liked the look of them and he asked me later if I would like to buy them, so I did and I am glad that I did. Since they are really awesome looking cars and they look great behind any modern diesel.
Only problem is that he didn't have the warning placard stickers that get placed on various parts of the car, but I didn't mind that. The cars also had some printed warning labels put on them (where those stickers would have gone), but I was able to easily remove them so no big deal. I might just have to buy more of these in the future, since they are very unique looking. But for now 2 will do for me.

At the Greenberg train show in Edison, NJ today, I bought my first Lionel postwar style Berkshire.
Made in November of 1993 (year AND month I was born, just 3 days early of my actual date of birth), it’s decorated in Pere Marquette markings and has both an electronic E-unit as well as RailSounds.
In spite of the condition of the engine being a bit rough around the edges, it runs super smoothly and quietly, even for an AC motor locomotive, and at $150 that's tough to beat. Now I just need some matching passenger cars...

Very cool Vincent!
Scored a nice LIRR caboose over the weekend. Looks like it was part of a RMT BEEP set from a few years back. Now to find the other pieces.
Bob
I was going to go to the Greenberg show in Edison, New Jersey, but alas, it was the same weekend as a family gathering, in Connecticut. So I ended up buying a locomotive on the "For Sale or Trade" Forum. It should be delivered later this week.
Inexpensive because it has that zinc disease. Except I just display them, don't run them...
Just got in a Max Gray new in the box Santa Fe side door caboose. Had scale archbars with it, but one truck has broken spring platform on the truck. Sure miss those Weaver 7xx series trucks. Used to raid different and far hobby shops for those. It will get aspen yellow paint, and spruce green trim, with custom decals, and some kind of three rail trucks.
I finally got one of the Lionel SD60M Legacy models that has been out for a couple years. Due to it being out on the market for a while I got it at a good price from one of the big dealers. It is the Union Pacific #6187. I really like the blinking beacon on top and the horn. I also just received one of the brand new Lionel Union Pacific C44-9W (SP Patch) #9647 Non-Powered. I think it goes well with the SD60M.

Vincent Massi posted:Lou, I find your posts interesting and informative, but I have to ask a beginner-level question: what sounds does a refrigerator car make?
Lionel put "freight sounds" in this and a few other refrigerator cars in their 2018 v2 catalog. The cars play random sounds of a train running down the tracks. So thumping on rail joints, flange squeal, and banging when the car starts or stops.

Yup. They will work conveniently no problem. All the sounds are based on the movement of the car. Just put it on a powered track and go.
