The 1950 version of the 773 would have had cadmium plated side rods. If they were in a damp location they would have corrode with a yellowish power look. The 1964 version would have had either zinc plating or nickel plating. I do not have this loco so I do not know for sure. Corrosion of the zinc would be a white powder. On the nickel, corrosion would come through the nickel and just look like red rust.
