CAB 1 with battery leakage | O Gauge Railroading On Line Forum

I was able to buy a cab 1 from a member of and for our club. It was new in the sense that he never hooked it up but when I opened it, after the purchase, and he is away, I found the batteries had leaked.

I was able to eventually get the battery door off and clean the green residue. I put new batteries in it and hooked it up and it worked. To me, the red dial knob does not turn smoothly. Also, the only TMCC engine that I had to test was my Weaver I5. I am not sure if it is the engine or the controller but the engine did not seem smooth nor did the brake or boost button work.

Can I spray it with tuner cleaner or do I need to take it apart?

DO NOT spray with contact cleaner! You can open the unit and inspect the contact tips on the switch buttons for wear.

Hmmmm...May be that's my problem. I've been spraying that stuff

in the wrong places.
