Just a comment I had to share with all. I attended the Central Florida Model Railroaders Club in Orlando Fl yesterday, and the Club members were great hosts and their layout, engines, rolling stock, scenery was amazing, featuring a dual track 1,500 foot long mainline, signaling systems... It is an HO Club with everything to scale and beautiful. But, its scale to me was too small and confirmed for me the perfect size is S Scale, as I know you all know so well. I particularly like the weight, detail, deepness of sounds...Again, I just needed to share. Mike

Might have posted this before ...  I collected 3RS O gauge locomotives and some rolling stock for 30 years, looking toward construction of a layout that being a road warrior always obstructed.  Upon retirement, I set out to build a layout that would showcase mainline operations of the collected items, having a 28x20 space to work with.  As I got going on this, I joined the local multi-gauge club, which puts on a holiday season "Festival of Trains".  When I showed up to assist in the setup, I was asked to help with the S gauge layout.   I had no S experience, but was just happy to contribute to the club's effort and our visitors' enjoyment.  Three years later, I've become the "default" S gauge leader, quite unintentionally.  I re-tracked the display layout 2 years ago, replacing GG track with AM and S-Helper flex.  All of these efforts convinced me that, had I to do it all over again, S would be my choice.  It's big enough for a retiree's eyesight and fine motor skill challenges, yet small enough to work well in typical space sizes.  One has the options of AC, DC, or DCC power & control, without that pesky center rail.  Yes, the product offerings are limited.  But, absent my prior investment in O brass steam and quality diesels, I'd find a way to make S work for me.

Getting ready to start an S Gauge layout once our daughter moves into her first apartment after finishing up law school.  My first train was an American Flyer All Aboard set that i got for Christmas in 1969, just a year or so after Gilbert folded.  Still have the set and the panel parts.

So I'm an S gauge guy by default, but still think its the best of all worlds.
