American Models recommends lightly oiling its pickup springs where they contact the inside of the locomotive wheels.  This seems contrary to the philosophy that electrical contacts should be pure metal and as clean as possible.  I'd think that the best way to implement this lubrication would be a Q-tip lightly oiled and applied to the inner surface of the wheel.  Does anyone have direct experience with doing this?  Has anyone tried any lubricant other than oil?
