I ran two models of New Haven Railroad Alco RS-3s on my 12’-by-8’ layout. #527 is an MTH Railking model (30-2897-1) with PS2 made in 2009. #531 is an Atlas O Trainman model (20033012) with TMCC made in 2012. Both are painted in the original green and orange colors of RS3s as delivered to the New Haven Railroad in 1950.

I’ve been posting images of my representation of the small central PA town of Mapleton for a few months, and the scene is finally nearing completion. Here are a few images just taken of the town.

First, this week we have a train in one of the images! This was taken at the eastern end of town and shows grandma and grandpa sitting on their porch watching a caboose roll by in the early days of Conrail.

Then we move to the center part of town with a view from underneath the PA Route 655 underpass where the highway ducks under the tracks. This is all that is left of the business district…not much! There is also an image of the closed Mapleton Market where a couple of guys can be seen moving stuff from out of the closed store.

Finally, there an image of the western part of town showing a few of the houses near the corner of Main and Campbell Streets.

That’s it for this week. Enjoy!
