Hi All,
Anyone know the CAB-1L status? We should be getting close, Shipping schedule shows May, or has it slipped due to the China lock downs? I hope not!

I wouldn't be at all surprised if they slip some or a lot. I've had boards held captive in China for weeks because of the COVID lockdowns according to the board manufacturers and DHL's customer support.
End of the year like the Base3 is my guess
Boy, the end of year would be a long wait. They've already been delayed twice, if I remember correctly.
A few days ago when I looked at the Cab3 on the Lionel website i said "sold out".
Not good. Welcome to the world of produce less and charge more for everything.
John
Contact Lionel. I could take a guess too but only Lionel knows the most accurate information, but probably not. They are dealing with the same issues GRJ mentioned.

That means they are sold out through direct purchase from the Lionel online store. Check with your favorite dealer to see if they have any available. I would also point out that “sold out” suggests that the CAB3 or Base3 is a sales success for Lionel.
Already this thread is deconstructing into yet another variation of the “Has Lionel canceled the CAB-1L remote?” thread that pops up here on OGR every couple of weeks. 😉
I didn’t see anyone say cancelled just when. We’re stuck with the current situation so we’ll just have to be patient.
Had to talk to Lionel today, and while I was on the phone I asked about the CAB1L's. They said it is now July.

That's a relief! And I was thinking this was going to be yet another "Hey is the Lionel CAB-1L remote canceled?" threads.
Thank you for posting!

Did Lionel specify what year? 🤷
Just kidding, the reality is when they arrive - they arrive, like a lot of things these days.
Hi All,
According to the Ryan and Dave video the Cab-1L's are in and should be shipping to dealers soon.
TrainWorld has starting shipping the CAB-1L. Mine was shipped Thursday, according to USPS it is expected to be delivered on Monday. Tracking shows it has arrived at the local USPS local Regional Center.
Got mine today.

I got my cab-1L today... It works. Were they always built this poorly? The case looks almost like it was used, roughed up, stressed plastic marks. The throttle wheel was rubbing on the surface mounted opto, inconsistently so it felt extra cheap. The circuit boards inside looked ok, besides the opto being placed a bit off.
I never handled a cab1 till today, the cab-2 is much much nicer than this thing... For $160 or whatever it went for.. woof. what a disappointment, especially since it's the only option right now.
Both of my CAB1L units exhibit none of those issues. These are a few years old.
I received my Cab 1L today from Trainworld. Nicely packaged and looks great. Will set it up in the morning.
Cool, maybe I just got one on the bubble of reject. I moved the opto a mm and my big complaint is fixed.
Some folks may think that the Cab 1L is an all new product, My opinion is it’s a Cab 1 in a different color, no antenna and legacy guts inside. In my honest opinion, it was an attempt to get more folks interested in running their trains in Legacy command at a much lower price to attract a much larger audience. It’s also the last remote Lionel seems to be making that runs TMCC/Legacy, it might control LionChief 2.0, but I do not have any of those engines. If one is not happy with the product, call Lionel Service. By the way, most of my friends have a Cab 1L remote as back up….and they are quality made products.
Happy Railroading Everyone
I never even upgraded to Cab 1L. My Cab 1 remote with the extendable antenna is still going strong and I believe it’s over 20 years old now.
I'll be looking for mine to arrive soon.

Well, it really is pretty much an all-new product, however, the case was obviously retained from the older CAB1. The internal electronics is vastly different.
Put batteries in my new CAB-1L and read the directions. Luckily, I did not have to sync channels. My Legacy base was using channel one and the Cab-1L has channel 1 as the default. The buttons are the same as the original CAB-1. It works and I ran the trains all afternoon. The one thing I had which worked out even better is the template for the numbered buttons. I assumed Lionel would send a template in the box. But if they did, they skipped my box. Fortunately, I had multiple templates saved and took out a new one. It matches up with all the Cab-1 actions.
I purchased this because my Cab-2 has been getting a little temperate and because I wanted another remote for the Grandkids.

Send your CAB2 into Lionel while they're still repairing them on an extended warranty. I don't know how long that will last.
Thanks John. I'll do that this week.
Just, got confirmation the clubs Cab-1L's will be shipping in a day or so.
