The 1985 TTOS mine car is a tough one to find, at least in good condition. They are an ore dump car, painted light blue with Snowbird Utah graphics. The issues arise since they used real salt sprinkled on the load. Any of us who grew up in the northern snow states know that salt and metal don't mix well. Rust takes over the body. They made some later ones with glitter as opposed to salt and the are nice.

So, I might have one laying around here... well, I know I have some rusty ones! I'll look for a good one.

Steve,

Ready to go on this end! I have the trunks and boxes (Red Comet 400E set, the Brute and Show Room Cars, 318 Coal Train with eight hoppers, Green PS3 City of Denver, Orange and Blue 254 set, Orange and Blue 400E, plus a few others) packed and staged in the kitchen, ready for tomorrow!

I hope jury duty does not mess it up for you (I think they do those things on purpose).

Matt,

I am truly sorry you will not be able to join us this year.  It will not be the same, my friend.  If anything changes, please call me on my cell.

I hope all is well with you and your family, sir.

The bailiff scared the @#%@@ out of me. I am on a panel and he said jury selection would go into Friday. When inside the courtroom, the judge said no, we will continue selection Monday. The weather has me concerned. I have a lot of stuff for TTOS & the floor layout, although it looks like we are duplicating a few things. We can double head our coal trains. Two 318's and 17 hoppers? Right now I am plastic wrapping some of the larger boxes that will have ride in the back of the truck. Hopefully the rain gives me a break, but I am trying to be prepared. See you in the morning.

For me there is no comparison. At Cal-Stewart they often have unique items and lots of tinplate including Standard Gauge. Almost everything is S, O , or Standard Gauge. San Diego has layouts that include z, n, and ho. If your looking for O gauge or tinplate Cal-Stewart is the place to be. Someday I will get to York, but until then this show is my holy grail. Hope to see you there,

Bob

A huge thanks to Arno for hauling this car out to cool & damp So Cal for me. Filled the hole in the set nicely. He also spent quite a bit of time showing me pictures of the variations to the car types and also some tips on CMT/CMC cars.

thanks again

We had a lot of fun today.  Patrick won his heat in demolition derby, I think he is going to sleep with his trophy. A very nice couple told him he could pick out any train on their table and he picked out a flat car with airplane. He had so much fun. the lionel standard gauge was absolutely over the top.  S gauge layout was very impressive.  Every one was nice and great to meet.

Patick bought this with his allowance money.

Another Great Cal Stewart meet has come and gone.

Steve, thank you for all of the hard work, the trains, and the buildings/signals that you supplied, my friend!  We got lots of very positive comments about the buildings!

Also, thank you to Steve Waller, Steve Randall, Jerry Johnson, Claudia and Jon Hasket, Jim Agpalsa, Ray Sugg, Jerry Moser, Jerry Butler (who ran the really cool Kokomo Electricars right next to us, also on the floor), and the TCA Western Division!.  Everyone worked very hard, played with trains for three days straight, helped load and unload, etc.

I will be tired for a week!

Arno,

From your perspective, how was the Cal Stewart meet?  Find any good Modern Era Standard Gauge trains for sale?  Any neat Milwaukee Road tinplate for sale?  How about RichArt?  Harmon?  Randall?  Liberty Lines?  Jerry Brown?  etc?

Somewhat shaky video of the floor layout...

Lots of Red Comet, Pride Lines Green Diamond, Jerry Johnson's Rudolf Christmas Train, and the Brute with Showroom cars:

2nd Video, less shaky, more Green Diamond and Rudolf.  A bit of Red Comet from the floor perspective and the Brute:
