Good evening everyone,

I am still progressing through the build of my layout.  After seeing a friends control panel in which he used bi-color LED's, I decided that I would like to do something similar.  However, instead of using separate SPDT switches to change the LED's / Switch machines, I was wondering if the DZ-2502 push button controllers could be wired to change the bi-color LED's.  I would like to put the LED's at each of the switch locations on the schematic of my layout located on the control panel, then have the push buttons located along the edge of the panels.  I am using Ross Switches with the DZ-2500 controllers and corresponding 2502 push buttons.  I have attached the lower and upper level layout schematics that would be used on the control panels.  Any help would be appreciated.

Not familiar with the DZ 2500 but I have a DZ 1000 I am just hooking up. Since voltage  is always on to the turnout machine (at least with mine),any number of LEDs could be hooked in line with a proper resistor and diode. For 14 volts AC input use a 810 ohm or more 1/4 watt resistor in series to the LED along with a diode in proper polarity.

A bicolor would have 3 leads and but would hook up in a similar fashion. The leads would go to the left, center and right wires going into the turnout with the proper resistor and diode in line with the center lead (the common of the LED). There are 3 wires into the DZ1000. A common, a left and a right as with the LED.

Thank you Dale H. & Dale M.  I was hoping it would be a straight forward hook up and not require the purchase of additional toggle switches or relays.  Quick question though.  What would the diode be used for and what type / size would I need?  Although I have an engineering background, I didn't do well in electrical engineering.

1n40001 to 1n4004. These are one amp, only difference is the voltage 1n4001 is 50 volt and adequate for most anything in model railroading. Radio Shack carries an assorted pack in their parts drawer for about $3. They are cheaper in quantity on Ebay or an electronic supply such as Mouser.

I buy my LEDs from China fro this Ebay supplier
