Can I reuse hydrocal | O Gauge Railroading On Line Forum

I know it doesn't cost much but I want to finish this tonight and I'm out of hydrocal and nowhere to buy it. Can I break up pieces and mix it with water and reuse it Or do I need to wait till tomorrow. Also can I use Plaster of Paris with hydrocal rock molds. Will they stick together and hold

Good evening........I know you want to do this tonight, and since nobody came up with an answer, I'll give you my thoughts on this. I don't think you can reuse the Hydrocal it would be like crushing up a cookie to bake a new one. I would go for the plaster of paris should work just fine in the rubber molds. They are basically the same product. OK guys and gals correct me if Im wrong.

Once you add water to it it rehydrates the minerals it's made out of. That's what causes it to set up , the formation of crystals and/or other mineral compounds.
