Yes they are excellent. You will not be disappointed. I recommend pairing it with a Dallee reverse unit. (4 amp) . Oh and the half speed can motor was really too slow for my tastes.

The low speed one has a gear ratio of 30:1 and the regular one is 16:1  so I ordered up the regular one, already have the Dallee E unit #400..

You can also rewire the original E-unit for DC motor operation. It still has all the downsides of an original E-unit (sticking, failing to cycle), but the cost is only your time and a bridge rectifier.

Any diagram of this conversion???

Here's a rough sketch of what I do when I wire a reverse unit to work with a can motor.  Not pretty but it works.

I got the motor this am and installed it into a Pacific chassis, Runs like a champ.  I have it connected to a tender with a Dalllee #400 eunit.  I was able to install the jack panel so that made connecting more convenient,  Waiting for connectors from Micro Mark to use for smoke and head lite.  On the layout it runs real sweet, I will be getting a few more of these for sure..
