HI, I have a nice 390 engine that needs both side boiler handrails. Mine has the rear cab and front handrails intact. They are .072 width. However I am not sure if they are the same thickness as the boiler ones. If anyone has both the engine and a caliper, I sure would appreciate a measure.  Best to ya.

boiler handrails are 0.081" ± 0.001

Yikes. There are two kinds of railing stock, and .081  isn't one of them. Not doubting your measuring, but could you double check that? (If you haven't already.) Thanks much.

[edit... (bold numbers) reading the mic wrong... oops]

well, i got the micrometer out this time and a much more accurate measurement at 0.080".  then i checked a second 390e and the handrails were 0.072".  for a change in scale, i checked a 260e and that one had the 0.080" rails.

all original Lionel and all seem to exactly fit their handrail stanchions.
good luck...gary
