I started cutting plastic for a project.

A donor engine arrived and I'm supposed to gut it and use the trucks and electronics. I just can't do it! I've wanted this engine since I was very young and saw a Lionel one in the old Sears Roebuck's store in downtown Niagara Falls.

Gee, just saw on Bloomberg business that these teens redesigned a 3d printer for a school project and now have it on kickstart looking for funding to produce it. It uses injectable plastic and sems it could be available in a short time. They had a statue they printed off it about 8 inch x 4. So in the near future i see your problem possibly solved making the parts you need.

As the self-appointed Information Minister of the Isle of Denial, I can tell you that sacrificing such a noble beast would constitute a crime against the laws of nature. Your very name would be forever stigmatized and for generations would be included in stories meant to scare small children.

BTW, if it was a BNSF Geep, I'd lend you my Dremel Tool.

Now if you'll excuse me, I have to go back on my meds.

 I'm always on mine!

Knew the S Fe guys would be offended. Didn't know just how bad it could be.

Hopefully they spell it right!! I've got enough nicknames.

Hey Joe,

What kind of switcher are you scratching there?  Looks like the cab to an sw1500 or mp15?  Just know that you might be able to use an Atlas cab from their mp15dc instead to save some time.

But then again, Atlas may not have any spare parts for the mp15dc on hand.  I checked with them years ago and found that to be the case.

No, I was just telling an old story how I saw a Lionel when I was young. My parents saw the price tag and said "don't even look at it!"

That is a MTH G scale engine in the picture above. Sometimes I get into trouble here, so I don't mention what scale it is.

Lionel has made two rail O gauge engines over the years. Even a line of HO.

Yep.

Started with a single GP9, which turned into three. Then another pair of GP9's mentioned above. Just couldn't sacrifice them. The light 4-axle problem continued with the scale-wheeled U25's (GE's version of a Geep). Then I got a trio of scale-wheeled GP38's, and now four GP35's. The GP9's are all three-rail, but I've been planning to switch them over to fixed pilots (may send the truck blocks out for conversion). Quite frankly, I've been trolling eBay for MTH scale-wheeled Geeps that I don't already have in ATSF and CNW liveries.

Geeps are great. you can run one with a few cars for a small switch job, or a few with a lot of cars for a transfer job and it all works. I have six-axle power, but it only really works with longer trains and switching just isn't an option.
