This project is inspired by Stephen C.Puntar & company.I have always thought the best railroad scene is a steam engine pulling a long consist of coal hoppers over a huge elevated and curved trestle. Here are a few pictures of my progress.I made the trestle bents in a tooling jig that I made. The bents will be installed after the terrain around the foundation is plastered and painted. If you are looking for instant gratification,do not try this at home.Nick

Looking good NICK.
Nick, past the C&O Trestle, would you be in favor of getting some polling started, to get one of the modelers to build the C&O K2 or K3? "Super Mikado"......Brandy!
A great start.
Nicely planned. Looking forward to seeing future stages.
Ready for plaster.

It's looking great! Please keep the updates coming!
Hi Nick • Looks great, the photos tell the story.
Nick, Great construction!! I agree its the best scene!! Don't forget some "water" somewhere! Will you do rock molds too?? I'll be following your progress.
Awesome and precise work. You have a nice train room. Mine is a sawdust collector. Can't wait for updates.
Looking good Nick! Keep us updated.
Thanks for the interest guys.Stranded inside with a winter storm so my wife Janet got to spend Valentines day helping me in the train room We got the plastering all done.I used Durabond 90.It is a setting type drywall joint compound. It's easy to work with and dries like plaster but you have a full hour before it starts to set up.What you see here are three applications. On the last one you can mix it on the stiff side and with some practice, actualy sculpt some stone like formations with various size trowels and brushes.I will do a paint wash on it next.Don't touch that dial.

Great work...it's taking shape nicely.
Sub-zero weather here so plenty of time in the train room.Got the painting done, the bents installed and the top track support beams in.The paint was a coat of dark green with a dark brown wash over the top gone over with a damp sponge.I will install the track next. The layout is all Fastrak but I will be using Lionel tubular O gauge O-72 curve track. It looks as though I should have placed the bents slightly closer together but I am hoping once I get the horizontal support beams and the cross members installed on each side It will be good. Nick, That looks absolutely super!! Very nice job. And, I am amazed that this thread was started on Feb 13 and 9 days later it is virtually finished. Ohio might be in a deep freeze but you're burning it up on that layout... Great work.
Nick the trestle bridge looks great, appreciate the progress postings
