Ran across this in my recommend feed.

Apparently Disney had plans to produce a spinoff of 'Cars' but this time with trains, specifically subway trains (hence my posting it here rather than in the regular 3-rail forum), set in New York City, and apparently with the cooperation of the MTA. The story was to be a combination of "The Warriors" and "After Hours". It got far enough to have concept art (featured in the video) and a script, but vanished with the closure of the division that would have produced it. A deep dive into what it was and could have been is presented below, Disney's "Metro":

A lot of familiar imagery "did their homework" and references for NYC-area aficionados in this.

I found the concept noteworthy for having the MTA involved, and the amount of "did their homework" imagery (like recognizable car types, even a character that was a subway crane car) that showed even through the heavily stylized vehicle characters.

Of course with Disney in its current DEI-afflicted state, I wouldn't have wanted them to proceed with this, so for now it could be considered  merciful that it did get cancelled.
